Turkish Village Life

My Turkish friend Bayram Tekce went to visit his home village in the Black Sea region of Turkey. He took some footage on his camcorder which you can view below. Not the most exciting clip in the world but it may interest you nonetheless.

Exlusive Art

Here I interview Berna Ozbakir the artist and teacher of Exlusive Art in Kaleici.

I was really impressed with her paintings and again she has a fixed price policy and as she paints them herself you are not paying over the odds for original artwork.

You can contact her at bernaozbakir@hotmail.com or 0242 247 6950 if you are interested in art or jewelry making lessons.

Here are some photos of the Exclusive Art Shop.

Ali Baba Carpets

I had half an hour to spare before meeting the owner of this apartment which is located near the Broken Minuret in Kaleici so I asked a couple of shopkeepers if they could give me a tour of their shop which they were more than happy to do. This first one is with Fatih (Tel: 0536 281 6816, email: fathman@hotmail.com) who owns Ali Baba Carpets. All the carpets here have a fixed price so you will not be overcharged and even my wife was impressed at the value for money for hand made carpets so it must be good!!

Here are the photos that I took while in the shop.

Music Man

My mother bought my son a childs guitar for his birthday but there was a piece missing so I went to a music shop in Antalya to ask if they stocked or could order the required piece. "Ah yes, problem yok" said the man and then he removed the required piece from one of his guitars. Superb. I then asked him if he was a teacher and he said yes but not the guitar but a similar instrument. Here is a clip of him playing it with the roadworks outside providing the beat.

Lunapark Concert

During Bayramlar these year Aktur Lunapark in Konyaalti had a free concert. Here is a 10 minute clip.
