Sand City

The 2nd Sand Sculpture Festival will be held at Antalya Konyaalti Beachpark between June 20 and October 1, 2007. I went along with my video camera to make a video of the Exhibition which you can view below.

The theme of the festival is "1001 Night Tales" and sixty sculptors from fourteen countries will create their works by using 6000 tons sand at an area of 5000 sq.mt.

The most striking examples of Sand Sculpture will be on display for more than three months. Sand Sculpture Art is based on creating gigantic sculpture by use of river sand and water. Although it is an ephemeral branch of art it is developing every year.

Horse Safari

After my extensive Horse Riding Training of about 15 minutes I was invited back to the Horse Club this time to go on one of their Safari trips that they offer for beginners and more experienced riders like myself alike. :-) However, although it was a very enjoyable outing I made the mistake of wearing shorts so by the time it had finished the inside of my legs were red raw, (now I know why jockeys wear boots), my ankles were black and blue and very swollen because I couldn’t seem to get the ball of my foot to rest on the stirrup properly and all my muscles ached from sitting in a John Wayne pose for an hour and a half. Below is a video to give you an idea of the countryside and the day in general.

I enjoyed it very much, mainly due to the fact that I didn’t break my neck when the horse started galloping at break neck speed with me little more than a very interested spectator. lol.  At the end I was just glad to be alive. PLEASE NOTE: Just make sure you wear trousers and boots if possible, oh and invest in some lessons before saying to the instructer "What? Gallop? Aye, no problem."

Horse Club

A friend of mine takes his son every week for riding lessons at Antalya Horse Club so I thought I’d go along with my video camera. Here is a video of the place and my first attempts at horse riding. After 10 minutes I managed to get the horse up to walking pace so I was quite pleased with that.

It is a really nice place which has some other animals and a cafe/bar area as well so the family can go there and relax for a good part of the day especially Sundays when they have a special menu. Here are some photos of the day.

You can see more photos of the club in my activities section.

Welcome To Antalya Living

Hello and welcome to Antalya News and Blog section.

My name is Billy Watson and I bought an apartment in the Konyaalti area of Antalya in 2003. I’ve been married to a Turkish lady since 1996 and on each visit to Turkey I have grown to love the country more and more. In October 2006 I decided to sell my house in Scotland and move out here permanently and its a decision I am growing happier with every day as I settle into a new culture and a much improved climate. The reason I have put together this website is to help showcase this beautiful area as I believe it is seriously under promoted, in the UK especially. When you take a look around the website and see what the area has to offer I am sure you will agree. If you are interested in finding property out here the good news is I have recently started my own real estate business at Antalya Property and I can help you find the most suitable property for you at a price you can afford. If you would like to come out here to view any properties I can arrange to meet you at the airport and show you the fabulous city and region of Antalya as well of course as the properties that best suit your needs. I only put the best builds on the property site by the most respected builders in the area and I am confident you will be very satisfied with our service. I have apartments, villas and even land to build on to your specifications if required. In this section I will be posting any news that is relevant to the Antalya region as well as traveling to various parts of Antalya and filming my adventures for your viewing pleasure just to give you more of an insight into the area. If you have any suggestions of places of interest that I could visit please let me know. If you would like to send your own videos of the Region either with or without you in them then please let me know by filling in the form in the contact section and if I like them I will post here on the blog. I would also be very happy if you leave a comment in any videos or news stories you find interesting and of course if you have a twitter account then I believe that ‘Please RT’ is the phrase. As an introduction here is a video of Antalya Town centre and the surrounding area put together from some home movies I had stored on my computer.

Thank you for your interest in my site and Antalya. Billy P.S You can click on any photo slideshow to see the photos in full screen size.
